Medical Dermatology
Our office provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment programs for common to complex medical skin conditions. We treat all skin types, ages, and levels of complexity, from acne, eczema, contact dermatitis, to acute and chronic rashes and skin cancer.

Acne Treatment
We provide diagnostic workup and treatment programs for mild, moderate and severe acne vulgaris and the various acne subtypes. A treatment regimen may include a review of skin care techniques, topical and/or oral therapy. We also offer photodynamic therapy, acne surgery (extraction) and chemical peels to augment treatment.
For those interested in isotretinoin (Accutane) therapy, we refer you to www.ipledgeprogram.com. We are members of the I-Pledge registry.

Patch Testing
Our office offers expanded patch testing for the diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis. Patch testing involves the application of diluted samples of the most commonly encountered allergens such as nickel, fragrance, and preservatives, followed at 48 and 72 hours by readings of positive reactions. We are members of the American Contact Dermatitis Society (www.contactderm.org) and have access to the Contact Allergen Replacement Database, which provides lists of alternative products that may be used given a person’s specific contact allergies.

Phototherapy Unit
Topical PUVA provides a treatment option for those with chronic, refractory hand-foot dermatoses such as psoriasis, dyshidrotic eczema, and contact dermatitis.
Narrowband UVB provides specialized treatment for those with psoriasis, vitiligo, polmorphous eruption of pregnancy (PUPP), pruritus (chronic generalized itching), contact and atopic dermatitis, and cutaneous T cell lymphoma, among other conditions.

Photodynamic Therapy
Our office offers photodynamic Blu-U (www.dusapharma.com) therapy for the treatment of actinic keratoses (precancerous skin lesions), acne vulgaris, and photodamage. Performed in our office, the procedure is a blue light-based treatment which involves the application of a light-sensitizing chemical, followed by an incubation period and subsequent Blu-U light treatment. For many acne patients, the Blu-U light treatment alone may provide improvement.

Surgical Dermatology
There is a rise in the number of cases of skin cancer, which include basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. In many cases we will treat skin cancer with local excision, which is done under local anesthesia in our office. We also offer referrals for Mohs surgical excision when indicated.
